Commissioning of Urbos trains

Commissioning of 106 Urbos line trams.

The primary reason for this project was to expand the number of service lines in the city of Jerusalem. For this purpose, the following was undertaken:

  1. A total of 106 new Urbos (CAF) trams were purchased.
  2. The construction of the new tracks apart from the Red Line.
  3. Modernization of the signaling system so that the new trams can run together with the existing ones.
  4. Construction of new Workshops to support the maintenance and storage demands of the new vehicles.

The commissioning process of the Urbos trams consists of:

  • The assembly, both mechanical and electrical, of the 5 cars that constitute a single tram.

  • Installation and commissioning of the different auxiliary subsystems of the train.

  • Execution of functional, electrical, and dynamic tests for entry into commercial service.
